Camera. SwingCheck uses your camera to detect your body position. All video frames are analysed on your device by a pose-detection model that runs inside the app. When a shot is detected, a short clip (a few seconds, from address to finish) is saved in the app's private storage on your phone so you can replay it from the Log. Clips are never transmitted or viewed by anyone, and deleting a session in the Log deletes its clips. You can revoke camera access at any time in your phone's settings; the app will not work without it.
Motion sensors. The app reads your phone's tilt to tell you when it's level. This stays on the device.
Microphone. If you use Coach conversation with the mic, your speech is turned into text on your phone by your device's speech recognition (Apple or Google, under their terms). Audio is never sent to us.
Video files you choose. If you pick a video from your library, it is analysed on your device in the same way and is not uploaded.
Players, settings and session log. Player names and colours, handedness, club, voice preference, mobility results, notes you type about the course, and the measurements and result of each shot are stored on your device only. Deleting a player, or a session in the Log, removes that data.
If the AI coach is on (Profile → AI coach), after each setup check or shot the app sends the following to our coaching service, hosted on Amazon Web Services in Sydney, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a comment:
If the voice coach is on, every line the app speaks is turned into speech by Amazon Polly (an AWS service, Sydney region); only the text of the line goes to Polly. No video, images, location or contacts are sent. We do not use this data to train models. Anthropic processes it under its API terms and does not use API inputs to train its models. Our service does not store the content of requests beyond short-lived operational logs. You can turn the AI coach off at any time; the app then uses built-in comments and sends nothing.
Subscriptions are sold on this website and processed by Square. When you subscribe, Square collects your name, email address and payment card details under Square's privacy policy. Square tells us your name, email address, the plan you're on and whether your payment succeeded; we never receive or store your card number.
We use your email to send receipts, service notices (for example a price change or an outage), and, if you agree at checkout, occasional practice tips. You can unsubscribe from tips with one click; service notices go to every subscriber. We keep billing records for as long as Australian tax law requires (currently five years).
Our web host records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and to keep the site running; these are kept for a short period. If we add analytics or advertising measurement (for example for Instagram, YouTube or LinkedIn campaigns), we'll list the tools here and ask for your consent where the law requires it. No video or images, no location, no contacts, no advertising identifiers inside the app, no analytics SDKs inside the app.
SwingCheck is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you (for most subscribers, that's a name, email and billing history), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it once any legal retention period has passed. Everything inside the app is on your phone and can be removed by deleting players or sessions, or uninstalling. To make a request or a complaint, contact Support. You may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
We'll update this page and the effective date when the app's or the website's data handling changes. Material changes will be emailed to subscribers and noted in the app's release notes.
